Whether you’re booking your annual cleaning before the burn season or there’s a raccoon family in your flue at 6am, ARC has the credentials and the equipment for it.
Most common · 01
Chimney Sweeping
Professional chimney sweeping removes creosote, soot, and debris that can cause fires and poor performance. Annual cleanings help keep your fireplace safe, efficient, and ready to use.
02
Chimney Fire Prevention
Chimney fires often start with creosote buildup. Annual inspections and professional cleanings remove dangerous deposits and help keep your fireplace and home safe.
03
Waterproofing
Chimney waterproofing protects masonry from water damage, leaks, and freeze–thaw cracking. Our breathable sealant blocks moisture while allowing vapor to escape, helping extend chimney life and prevent costly repairs.
Chimney Caps
Chimney caps and lock-top dampers. Keeps rain, debris, and wildlife out — improves energy efficiency.
Relining
Stainless steel and cast-in-place liners for damaged flues. Restores safe venting and brings older chimneys to code.
Animal Removal
Humane removal of birds, squirrels, raccoons, and other wildlife. Followed by exclusion install so they don’t return.

03
Spot-free or it’s on us.

"We've used ARC a few times now and have had a great experience each time. All great at their jobs, efficient, and they DON'T LEAVE A MESS - my biggest worry."
"John at Arc Chimneys is the absolute best to work with. He goes above and beyond in everyday. He helped us understand exactly what was needed and made sure it was done timely. He has been one of the very best people we have worked with. I highly recommend! Thanks so much John!"
"I requested someone come by to inspect the fireplace in a home we recently purchased. I thought given the age, it likely needed a chimney sweep done. I also had operational questions based on the previous owners telling us the fireplace could either be used as wood burning OR gas. John came out and was super friendly, VERY knowledgeable, and didn't try to sell me ANYTHING that I didn't actually NEED. In fact, he told me I had another year before a chimney sweep was actually needed. He provided a quote to get the fireplace functional as gas, but again, did not pressure me into anything at all. I appreciate that more than anything, and will DEFINITELY only be using ARC for any of our fireplace needs from here on out. What an AWESOME, HONEST BUSINESS!"

Section 05 · Common Questions
Common Questions About Chimney Service
How often should I have my chimney swept?
Most chimneys should be swept at least once a year, per CSIA and NFPA guidelines. If you burn frequently or notice creosote buildup reaching roughly 1/8 inch on the flue walls, schedule a cleaning sooner — that level of buildup becomes a fire risk.
How much does a chimney sweep cost?
Cost varies by the size of the chimney, how long it has been since the last cleaning, and how much creosote has accumulated. We quote exactly what you pay — no surprises added at the door.
How long does a chimney cleaning take?
A standard chimney sweep typically takes up to 90 minutes. During the visit, we protect your home with drop cloths, use targeted dust control during cleaning, and perform a thorough inspection of your chimney system. We also provide a clear before-and-after review so you understand exactly what was removed and the condition of your chimney before we leave.
What are the signs my chimney needs cleaning?
Key warning signs include a strong smoky or oily smell near the fireplace, smoke entering the room when a fire is burning, a black or oily residue on the damper or firebox walls, and poor draft. If you see or smell any of these, book an inspection before your next fire.
What is the difference between a Level 1, 2, and 3 chimney inspection?
A Level 1 inspection covers accessible areas with no special equipment — the minimum for a chimney in routine use. Level 2 includes a video scan of the flue interior; it is required when buying or selling a home or after any unusual event. Level 3 involves opening up the structure and is reserved for serious damage or hazards. ARC performs Level 2 video inspections as a standard part of every sweep.
Do you remove animals humanely?
Yes. We humanely remove birds, squirrels, raccoons, and other wildlife from chimneys and follow every removal with an exclusion install — a cap or custom barrier — so animals cannot re-enter.
Are your technicians certified and insured?
Every ARC technician is CSIA Certified, and the company holds NFI Hearth Specialist credentials, full liability insurance and licensing in all five states we serve, and a BBB A+ rating. Every tech arrives in uniform with an ID badge.
Which areas do you serve?
We serve customers across Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi — dozens of cities across five states, including Atlanta, Pensacola, Mobile, New Orleans, and Biloxi. See the Service Areas section of this page for the full city list.
What is creosote and why is it dangerous?
Creosote is a combustible residue that forms when wood smoke cools against the flue walls. It builds up in three stages: a loose, brushable deposit (Stage 1); a harder, tar-like coating (Stage 2); and a glazed, extremely flammable crust (Stage 3). Stage 3 creosote is the leading cause of chimney fires. Annual sweeping keeps buildup from progressing past Stage 1.
Does my chimney need waterproofing?
Masonry chimneys are porous, and water intrusion is the most common cause of long-term chimney damage — cracked mortar, spalled bricks, and interior leaks. Waterproofing with a vapor-permeable sealant system stops water from entering while still allowing the chimney to breathe. It is especially important in climates with heavy rain or freeze-thaw cycles, which describes most of our five-state service area.
